IsoView WebCGM is available as an embedded component based on Microsoft´s ActiveX Control Technology for applications such as Internet Explorer, MS-VisualBasic, MS-Access, Borland Delphi etc. As a result all WebCGM illustrations and catalogs can be displayed on the Web.
Advantages IsoView WebCGM allows everybody to work with WebCGM files as defined in the W3C Recommendation (www.w3.org/Graphics/WebCGM) at no cost. WebCGM allows for the storage of both vector and raster information in a vendor-neutral file format based on the well-established CGM standard (ISO/IEC 8632).
WebCGM allows for the creation of so called graphical objects to identify areas of interest on the illustration. Graphical objects in WebCGM can have certain attributes, the most important ones being the hotspot region and the hyperlink. Using graphical objects it becomes possible to structure illustrations in a way comparable to SGML or XML. The hotspot region allows for tracking of mouse clicks, and a link can be associated with the object that allows for navigation to any URL on the web.
WebCGM also defines a fragment syntax that allows using graphical objects for highlighting purposes or as navigation targets.
Functionality IsoView WebCGM supports WebCGM as defined in the W3C Recommendation (www.w3.org/Graphics/WebCGM). It recognizes graphical objects in the WebCGM file and supports all interactive functionality available in WebCGM. It allows for navigation and addressing of graphical objects using the WebCGM fragment syntax.
IsoView WebCGM is fully Unicode-based and supports usage of Unicode-encoded WebCGM files. This enables users to display files containing east-Asian language characters like Japanese.
IsoView WebCGM has built-in functionality for zooming, panning, and printing. Users can thus benefit from all advantages provided by high-quality vector graphics.
IsoView WebCGM is a scaled-down version of the commercial IsoView product offered by ITEDO Software. This ensures a tested and stable CGM support, because IsoView WebCGM can rely on the experiences made with IsoView, which has become the reference viewer for commercial applications in the CGM world.
