1984: Foundation of the "ITEDO Ingenieurbüro für Technische Dokumentation und Illustration" by Dieter Weidenbrück and Klaus Rüttgen
6 years of intensive work in the field of Technical Illustration followed. Important customers were, for example, Keiper Recaro GmbH & Co KG, Bitter Automobile GmbH & Co KG, Procter & Gamble GmbH & Co. Manufacturing OHG. The founders very soon recognized that changes in an illustration meant a lot of extra work. Therefore, they kept researching for the latest technological developments. In 1988, their research efforts led them to Blackpool / UK, where the technical illustration process had already been computerized.
At that point, Dieter Weidenbrück decided to develop a software that is more efficient than all existing solutions: IsoDraw. From then on, Technical Documentation and software development were done parallel. The next step would be to found an independent software company.
July 1990: Foundation of ITEDO Software GmbH with the aim to develop and market software solutions for Technical Illustration.
The ITEDO Ingenieurbüro für Technische Dokumentation and the ITEDO Software GmbH were existing parallel and both underwent intensive further development by Klaus Rüttgen and Dieter Weidenbrück. IsoDraw was added more and more functionality and is first delivered in December 1990.
December 1990: IsoDraw 1.0 is launched
Only 6 months after its foundation ITEDO Software GmbH had finished the first ready-for-market release of IsoDraw 1.0, which was at first available for the MacOS operating system. The demand was enormous, since the program had been practice-oriented from the beginning.
November 1995: IsoDraw 3.1 for Windows is launched
Because of the high demand IsoDraw was now available for both operating systems: MacOS and Windows. Since there are only marginal differences between these two versions, it is very easy for the user to work on both platforms.
May 1996: Foundation of ITEDO Software LLC, USA
The great success of IsoDraw also proceeded in the USA. Therefore, a subsidiary - ITEDO Software LLC - was founded there, in order to provide a tangible contact person for the American customers. A close relationship with its customers has ever since been a major task of ITEDO.
December 1996: IsoDraw 4.0 is launched
With this release ITEDO Software GmbH clearly underlined its market leadership. In IsoDraw 4.0 the foundation stone for intelligent Technical Illustration is laid: For the first time in IsoDraw it became possible to link non-graphic information with the single elements. An important strategic decision for companies that want to publish electronic spare parts catalogs on CD on in the Internet.
1997: Cooperation agreement with Adobe Systems, Inc.
By introducing the IsoDraw technology into Adobe FrameMaker and FrameMaker+SGML an integrated solution for Technical Illustration and Documentation was created. From then on IsoDraw in combination with FrameMaker were "The best of breed" when talking about solutions for Technical Documentation.
March 1998: Development of the IsoView technology
This innovative viewer allow to display vector graphics in the Internet Explorer, in Visual Basic applications or other environments. Through this, the object information that were introduced in IsoDraw 4.0 can be connected flexibly with the databases in companies and allow the automatic creation of spare parts catalogs.
December 2000: IsoDraw 5 & CADprocess are launched
IsoDraw 5 CADprocess is launched in addition to IsoDraw 5. This solution is linked with the data from the construction departments and creates technical illustrations from this data in one click - something that had never been expected to be possible.
September 01, 2001: IsoView 3 is launched
The support of WebCGM and the possibility of manipulating graphics at runtime allow the creation of elaborated, graphic-oriented manuals and catalogs.
December 01, 2001: IsoView WebCGM is presented
IsoView WebCGM is a CGM viewer that can be used to view and print high quality vector graphics based on the industry standard WebCGM. WebCGM is a Recommendation of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). To underline its continuing commitment to WebCGM, ITEDO has decided to provide a distribution license that allows customers to distribute the viewer along with their interactive applications and documents at no cost.
December 01, 2001: The Portal for Technical Illustration is online
ITEDO creates a web portal that provides voluminous and vendor-neutral information on Technical Illustration for everyone. Being available in 4 languages, the portal closes an information gap on a global basis.
May 01, 2002: Release of IsoDraw 5 CADprocess 2
The release of IsoDraw 5 CADprocess 2 is an important step in the automation of the process chain. For the first time ever, all information provided by the CAD system can be used for Technical Illustration: Assemblies are recognized and their denominations can be further used in electronic documentation.
November 01, 2002: IsoView 4
The new generation of the Intelligent Viewer offers a variety of new functions, such as Redlining.
March 2003: IsoDraw 5 CADprocess 3
The third generation of IsoDraw CADprocess comes with the two new import filters for VRML and OBJ data.
April 2003: IsoCompose - a brand new product
IsoCompose, the latest product by ITEDO, enables electronic spare parts catalogs to be created virtually at the push of a button. This product is ITEDO's response to the steadily increasing demand for electronic spare parts catalogs and offers an easy-to-use and universally applicable solution.
December 01, 2003: IsoDraw 6 & CADprocess 4
With IsoDraw 6 and IsoDraw 6 CADprocess 4, ITEDO Software releases a voluminous update of the successful illustration system. The new product generation contains a multitude of new illustration functions as well as technical enhancements that again facilitate the access to 3D design data for the technical illustrator.
December 2004: IsoDraw 6 CADprocess 5
With this major update of IsoDraw CADprocess the illustrator gets a variety of new functions for manipulating data in the 3D window. Furthermore, this new version was enhanced with additional 2D and 3D export filters.
