What temporal liberties does an "intelligent" graphics viewer provide?

An "intelligent" graphics viewer allows a number of decisions to be made at a later point in time.

These include, for example:

  • in which environment an illustration will be used (e.g. in a Web browser or a database application),
  • whether a graphical object shall be used for a link or not,
  • which object shall be linked with which text component.
