Why should I care about distribution rights when the data in the catalog is mine?

Since the viewing software of the catalog might not be yours, you will probably have to acquire the license rights in order to distribute it.

You should check the following:

  • What kind of licenses does the software use?
  • Do you have the rights of use and the exploitation rights for a catalog that was programmed by external people for you?
  • Are there annual associated costs?
  • Are the licenses dependent upon the version or a specific quantity?

If possible, try to realize a solution that allows the free distribution of the completed catalog.  For example a free web browser permits this, or else a one-off license, as is the case of the IsoView viewer for technical illustrations.
