The military projection reproduces the layout/object accurately. The term originates from its use in the military and it can also be seen on street maps.
The layout/object can be rotated by any angle in this projection. However, the original angles are retained! The vertical lines are then plotted to scale using their actual length.
Nowadays, this projection is still used, albeit infrequently, e.g. on 3D street maps.
