The new generation of the intelligent graphics viewer will be released soon
The IsoView product family consists of a group of intelligent viewers, which allow the display and printing of high-quality vector graphics. In most cases, these are illustrations in CGM format, which are based on the latest industry standards. A main application area for IsoView is the integration into interactive electronic manuals, such as spare parts or sales catalogs or maintenance instructions, which are either distributed via CD-ROM, or Intra-/Internet.
IsoView 6 is the latest version of ITEDO's leading global viewing technology for vector graphics. It is available as an ActiveX Control for use within Internet Explorer, in Visual Basic applications, or other environments. It offers a stable viewing environment for illustrations and is currently integrated into a wide variety of environments predominantly for the display of graphics in interactive technical documentation. IsoView has for many years been the de facto standard viewer of CGM files in the defense and aerospace industries and in numerous other manufacturing industries. This release will provide major benefits and powerful new features for both existing and new users.
IsoView 6 Update - The New Features IsoView 6 provides support for the new WebCGM 2.0 file format. WebCGM 2.0 is the upcoming new version of the WebCGM profile, a W3C Recommendation. IsoView 6 will also introduce intuitive methods of finding and addressing objects on interactive illustrations providing major benefits for developers and end users of IsoView. The new features are listed in detail below.
Support for:
- WebCGM 2.0 profile
- ATA (Air Transport Association) GREXCHANGE 2.10 profile
New addressing modes for graphical objects:
- A new search tool will provide the ability to find object and textual information on an illustration using various search criteria, e.g. metadata (object attributes) or text content. The tool enables the finding of relevant information on an illustration using an intuitive method, which provides a major benefit for the users of electronic catalogs and manuals.
- This same methodology could be applied utilising the API (Application Program Interface) in order to run functions on objects, e.g. highlighting and changing graphical attributes of an illustration, including line weights, fills, etc.
The IsoView 6 update will be provided for free to all IsoView Premium Service Customers on release.
The WebCGM Integration Toolkit Apart from graphics changes, WebCGM 2.0 will also introduce two brand new technologies - the DOM (Document Object Model) and the XML Companion File Architecture (XCF).
The DOM provides an API (Application Programming Interface) to WebCGM objects. It enables developers to manipulate WebCGM documents and access information found in XCF files. The DOM introduces new concepts resulting in new levels of interactivity. In partnership the DOM and XCF technologies provide powerful new functions that will revolutionize the maintenance and delivery of intelligent graphics.
The XML Companion File Architecture allows applications to externalize non-graphical metadata such as spare parts numbers into a standard XML (Extensible Markup Language) file. The XCF enables a tight integration between the graphical objects in WebCGM and the external metadata contained in an XML file. This external approach will provide major benefits with the ability to utilize standard XML technology in the management and production IsoView based applications.
The DOM and the XCF technologies will be available in the "WebCGM Integration Toolkit" as an optional add-on to the standard 'IsoView Distribution Kit' and the new 'IsoView Registered Developer Program'.
IsoView Registered Developer Program The IsoView Registered Developer Program is a new licensing model for IsoView customers. It includes the full functionality of IsoView 6. However, in contrast to the Distribution Kit it does not contain any distribution rights. This product package is aimed at service providers and system integrators who wish to implement IsoView into their customer's applications but do not distribute them. The Registered Developer Program for IsoView comprises a full Premium Service Agreement including support and all IsoView product updates. It is renewable on an annual basis.
Availability IsoView 6 and the WebCGM Integration Toolkit are available for beta testing as of Nov 21, 2005. The final release date depends on the release date of the WebCGM 2.0 specification.
