The S1000D standard is a complex field that is developing very quickly. ITEDO Software is very committed to this subject and in future we would like to provide you with even more comprehensive news and facts relating to S1000D.
Dieter Weidenbrueck, CEO of ITEDO Software, has actively participated in the previous S1000D User Group meetings and has also been invited to speak at the next meeting in Munich, Germany (October 5 - 7, 2005).
The S1000D User Group meets twice a year, giving users and developers of the standard a chance to exchange information. The last meeting was in May, in Clearwater, Florida.
As Chairman of the CGM Open Consortium with outstanding specialist knowledge in the field of CGM, Dieter Weidenbrueck is a popular speaker at events involving S1000D. His lecture in Clearwater, for example, gave an overview of WebCGM 2.0 features and outlined their significance for S1000D usage with special emphasis on the XML companion file architecture, management of variants, and the WebCGM 2.0 DOM.
To provide a little background information, S1000D specifies CGM as the required format for delivering vector graphics. Whereas in the past the ATA GREXCHANGE profile had been referenced with minor alterations, S1000D 2.2 introduced a S1000D profile of CGM that has been derived from the widespread WebCGM profile. This was the first step towards a support for the newly developed WebCGM 2.0 profile, which comes with a wealth of important functionality that will facilitate application development as well as enrich the usage of intelligent graphics within the scope of S1000D.
