Prerequisites for working with IsoCompose

Here, you will find answers to some general questions around working with IsoCompose.

How do I know if I have the Editor, Publisher or the Full version?
You can distinguish between the three variants by looking at the notation located on the dongle tag and on the splash screen of IsoCompose.

Before starting the program you can see this information on the splash screen of IsoCompose.  You can also check on the printed tag on your dongle located towards the back of your computer.

What do I have to do in order to create a catalog?
First, you have to compile the data material for the catalog. Then you must only follow the step-by-step instructions of the IsoCompose Wizard.

The graphics must be available in IsoDraw/CGM-Format.

The parts lists should be available in a standard text file. This can be extracted from all common data base systems as so-called tab-delimited files. You must use the tabulator as a separating character.

The table of contents is needed in the same text format. This text data can, of course, also be created manually if no data base system is available.

Layout: In order to get an appealing design, you can use your company logo or other title graphics in PNG/ JPEG format. The IsoCompose Wizard leads you through each step of the entire catalog creation process, with various layout suggestions to help you create the look you want.

After completion of these elements you can arbitrarily change the catalog or duplicate the catalog as often as you wish.

What do I have to learn in order to work with IsoCompose?
IsoCompose requires nothing you don't already know. Average computer skills are absolutely sufficient for working with IsoCompose.

IsoCompose was conceived as a tool that supports a documentation employee without programming skills, and can lead  an average computer user through processes that sustain the creation, the distribution, and even future revisions of a catalog. It allows the user to publish any illustrations created with IsoDraw in catalog form. In order to make the application of IsoCompose even simpler, a program wizard is included that guides the user through all work steps. Advanced users can use the layout editor manually and achieve more specific results.

I am a service provider. Can I create catalogs for all of my customers?
You can create as many catalogs as you like. For the distribution of any copies, each of your customers will need their own distribution license.

This means you can create catalogs for all your customers using the Editor. Afterwards, for the distribution of the created copies, each of your customers will need their own license, either the IsoCompose Publisher or the Full Version. With the Full Version, you can, of course, also create different catalogs for different customers and present them. Your respective customers who want to distribute the catalog themselves, however, will need their own licenses, as described above.

How can the IsoCompose catalog be published?
IsoCompose catalog can be published in every common electronic way, including:

  1. On CD-ROM
  2. On the Internet
  3. On your Intranet

Do I need programming skills?
Definitely not.

IsoCompose is an expert system that does these tasks for you. Due to the user-friendly program interface and its drag & drop functionality, programming skills are not required.
