Hoses and Tubes

Hoses and tubes have to be drawn rather frequently in Technical Illustration. What do you have to regard?

Time and again you can find hoses and tubes in technical illustrations that are not very convincing. The problem lies in the illustrative conversion of this body which is often made up of two parallel lines. However, when looking at a tightly bent tube, e.g. a siphon of a wash basin, you will see that it is in most of the cases impossible to draw the contour of the inner line of the tube over whole length. Instead, the contour line is running into the return surface of the tube. Take a close look at these two illustrations: The right one shows the correct illustration of a tightly bent tube.

IsoDraw contains a special tool for the automatic creation of a realistic transition.
