The ISTC is pleased to announce that Conference 2003 will take place on 3-5 October at the Palace Hotel in Buxton, Derbyshire.
Open theme for open minds This year, Council has set no theme for the event. Instead, papers will be selected purely on their quality and interest to the profession. The fusion of different sectors, disciplines and processes will enable delegates to explore all aspects of technical and scientific communication, free from limits or boundaries, encouraging variety and stimulating discussion.
Those who have attended before will be familiar with the blend of presentations, seminars and stands. The event begins with Friday dinner and ends with Sunday lunch; some adjustments are planned to improve the flow and make best use of the time. The schedule will be confirmed when the full programme is released but, meanwhile, please reserve the whole weekend if you possibly can.
Call for papers If you would like to present a paper, please e mail a synopsis to Gavin Ireland at conference@istc.org.uk.
Perfect setting Set in five acres of gardens, the Palace Hotel is located in the beautiful spa town of Buxton, famous for its spring water. For partners not attending conference sessions, the hotel has a swimming pool, sauna, solarium, steam room, weights room and gymnasium. All around is the natural splendour of the Peak District, plus Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Alton Towers.
The hotel is five minutes' walk from Buxton train and bus station, with rail links to Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.
Roughly equidistant from the M1 and M6 motorways, Buxton is 26 miles from Sheffield and 38 miles from Derby.
